LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT KEITH UCHIDA
Dear Friends,
It's been five years since our last price increase and after patiently waiting for an economic recovery to implement an increase to keep up with our rising costs, we have decided to raise prices at A DOG'S LIFE. As a consumer, I know that no time is a good time to see price increases. This action is not to increase profitability, but an effort to keep up with our increased cost of doing business. It is my responsibility to reinvest in the business and take a long look at both operations and expenses before our clients are asked to pay more for our services. We have all experienced many established businesses shutting down or making drastic cuts in their level of service. Neither of those actions are an option for the service that we provide you.
As before, we do not intend to increase prices again for a number of years to come. We also do not want to change our services to an a la carte menu as many other dog services companies have done. Many of our clients have commented on how their bill seemed to inflate before their eyes when they went to an a la carte dog services provider.
We continue to incur annual price increases in the cost of doing business. These costs include workman's compensation insurance, annual increases in our rent, utilities, a 2-3% charge from credit card companies, and TAXES, TAXES, TAXES. You have probably heard before, and unfortunately it is true: California is an unfriendly state for small businesses.
We will implement a price increase for daycare, boarding, and grooming on March 1, 2012. Prior to that date, I encourage all of you to purchase a daycare package. All outstanding packages will be honored with no expiration date.
Finally, Thank you! I know the great responsibility that you have placed on A DOG'S LIFE and our outstanding staff by entrusting us with the care of your beloved family member and companion. We take that very seriously and are grateful to have that honor. I know you have a choice in care, so thank you very much for your trust, support, and dedication. If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to give your feedback to our management team, Erin in Sunnyvale, Mika in Palo Alto, or Tracey Lee, or email me at my personal email keithuchida@gmail.com.
I am hoping that 2012, the Year of the Dragon on the Chinese calendar (the most fortuitous of the twelve years of their calendar), brings you and your family enormous happiness, good health and harmony. I know that is something we are all ready for!
All the Best,
Keith Uchida
